Auriculotherapy is based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem, which reflects the entire body, represented on the outer portion of the ear. The ear holds all of the acupuncture points of the body plus more detailed physiological and anatomical correspondences. Stimulation of ear acupoints are effective in alleviating pain and other symptoms.
Treatment is easily given while people are comfortably seated, in a group setting, to reduce and/or alleviate anxiety, stress and pain anywhere on the body. A set protocol developed for use in addiction treatment programs through the National Acupuncture Detox Association (NADA) is an effective way to help people facing enormous stress, anger, depression, fatigue and other emotional and physical pain. It has been used in thousands of programs around the world. I am certified by Acupuncturists Without Borders, a non-profit organization, to conduct community acupuncture clinics.
Relaxation generally occurs within minutes after placing thread-like filaments in the ear & is useful in alleviating symptoms of acute stress disorder.
